Working with documents
While TIB makes the job of managing content for complex format production much easier than desktop solutions, there are still real-world considerations that must be understood, especially by editors.
If you have run tracking on your Design Profiles using TIB AND you make any late corrections to the Writer text, you may have to check and track those paragraphs in TIB again.
Depending on the size of the edits there may be no significant reflow effect, or there may be considerable reflow.
This topic explains how to decide whether TIB needs to be used again.
First, make your edits in a section.
Use the Section Reader Composition PDF generator and inspect the modified paragraphs. This PDF is generated with all TIB options applied so the tracking or flow effect of your edit will immediately be seen in the PDF
This assumes the tracking has been carried out, and there is a late edit change required.
When you make a tracking change such as word-spacing or letter-spacing, there is no change in the content. TIB just stores the CSS separately linked to the paragraph ID.
However when you use any of the Tracking Toolkit character insert options: soft-hyphen, non-breaking space, zero-width space, thin space: then TIB stores a copy of that paragraph in its database so the tracking decisions for a specific Design Profile PDF do not affect the other Design Profile documents.
All PDF views ALWAYS use TIB information for their presentation so you can reliably use the immediate Composition PDF view for checking whether or not you need to open TIB again to make tracking changes.
